This one-girl-show began life in November 2009 as a way of keeping up with and making sense of China’s social and political changes. The focus of my posts has largely been on diplomacy, media reform and the growth of China’s civil society.
I am a British/Italian blogger and student of Chinese who has been living in Shanghai since September 2009. I have written about culture, politics and social issues for openDemocracy, The Journal of Cool, The China Beat and blogged at Shanghaiist. I currently write for Global Voices Online.
I have an MSc in Global Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and a BA in History from the School of Oriental and African Studies. Besides currently grappling with Mandarin, I also speak Italian and Portuguese.
Other activities include devouring Shanghai street food, raiding markets & 7 kuai DVD stores, rambling around the French Concession with some background beats, and running whenever possible.
Finally, all views expressed here are no-one else’s but my own.
